The Cork Admirals were founded in 2002 and are current National Champions at both Senior American football and Youth American football levels. The club is named because of the rich Cork maritime heritage and proudly sports the red and white colours of the Rebel County. The club reached its first Shamrock Bowl in 2007 but lost out in a close game against Munster rivals UL Vikings.
The club unfortunately folded in early 2013 due to lack of playing numbers but since reforming has been on an upward trajectory. The club reached three consecutive IAFL 1 Bowls from 2014 – 2016, winning out against the Belfast Trojans at CIT Stadium in August 2016, on the back of an undefeated season and securing promotion back to the SBC.
In 2018 the Admirals in only its second season back in the top division became National Champions winning Shamrock Bowl XXXII against Dublin Rebels at Tallaght Stadium. The Youth American football team, founded in 2017, mirrored the Senior American football team winning the National title against South Kildare Soldiers at the NSC.
